RIT vs. Neumann

Hockey. What is it all about? For Rochester Institute of Technologystudents, it is like football but with a puck. With men going into division Ilevel and actually be successful at what they do. Women hockey is trailingbehind at division III and is working their butts off to try to be in divisionI league.

On November sixth – it was the first game for the new season. Womenhockey team battled their way into a tie. Four-four. They were facing Neumann University, their rival. The game was in Aston, Pennsylvania. Inthe first period, the women scored their first goal of the game. Kayla Ross wasthe player that scored with the help from Sarah Dagg. The score were one-zeroat this point.

Dagg scored her own first goal for theseason with the assist from Kylie Mazzetta. It got the score to be two-zero. Ithappened in the first period by the way. The puck got into the goal net. It wasby Katie Stack with the assists by Dagg and Mazzetta. Three-zero. Then thebreak hits. It lasted 15 minutes.

The women from Neumann finally scored. Late. Three-one. It happenedlate in the second period. Kim Schlattman gotthe tiger to have three points lead with the help by beautiful girls - Kristina Moss and Mazzentta. It was Mazzentta’s second assist for thegame. Four-One. It was Schlattman’s first goal of her hockey career.
Neumann Knights pulled outtheir sticks and got the pucks into the net three times in the third period. Itis the last period of the game. They managed to tie it up with the goal thatwas scored by Jessica Schroeder. It is now four-four.

They would face each other again thefollowing afternoon. RIT has finally won their first game of the season.  The score? Four-three.

I am not sure if the crowd in Pennsylvaniawere packed since I did not show up due to the long drive. People rather men’shockey over the women’s. I do not understand why but that is how it rolls. I amsure there were some supporters. It just cannot be empty. I believe that peoplewill get up off the seats and scream whenever the Knights scored or come upwith some kind of insults for the Tigers.

The players themselves were great. Theywere tough, considering hockey being labeled as man’s sport.  They use their heads and the body. Theywere willing to put their bodies on the line to either defend or steal the puckto order to win the game before all three quarters are over.

I was just over at the Neumann’s websitewhere they review the game. Personally, it is well written, very accurate. Itis also boring. It is bland. It did nothing to pull people in and make them towant to talk to others about it. All it did was to have the readers to go“okay, that is cool” and move on.
